The DFL Units of Olmsted County unequivocally condemns President Donald Trump’s dangerous and unprecedented threats of violence against six decorated military and intelligence veterans serving in Congress.
On November 20th, President Trump used his social media platform to call for the arrest, trial, and execution of members of Congress who took an oath to defend our Constitution, and their only “offense” was reminding service members of their duty to refuse illegal orders.
“Political violence has no place in America,” said John Swanson, Chair of DFL Senate District 25. “When the President of the United States threatens elected officials with execution for doing their constitutional duty, we have reached a perilous moment that demands moral clarity from every American.”
These targeted members serve our country with patriotism and distinction and we call on House Representative Brad Finstad and House Republicans to condemn these threats.
We call on all Americans, regardless of party, to:
Unequivocally condemn threats of violence against elected officials
Demand that President Trump immediately delete these posts and apologize
Contact their Republican representatives and demand they speak out against this rhetoric
Stand united in defense of our democratic norms and constitutional principles
This is not normal. This is not acceptable. And we will not be silent.
